‘I chose to study at HZ because I wanted to take the challenge of living abroad on my own and Vlissingen charmed me with its coziness. I selected the Civil Engineering programme because a very crucial point of my higher education was the possibilities for professional realisation. I wanted to have an internationally oriented programme that would enable me to work all over the world and this is why CE at HZ was the perfect fit.’

‘I choose it because I wanted to specialise in water constructions and because I already knew a lot of people here from my holidays’

‘With its sea defenses and advanced infrastructure, the Netherlands is one of the leading countries in civil engineering. It has both a long history and prominent future in the subject and thus studying Civil Engineering here provides an opportunity to see what is happening in lessons first hand. The HZ furthers this advantage with its applied approach allowing for more practical knowledge in civil engineering projects. Finally being a part of a community of international students helps to broaden horizons in all areas.’

'I chose HZ because it was the only school which offered Civil Engineering in English. I was also attracted by its good reputation and the mix of practical/theoretical learning'

‘As I child I grew up by the water which became my passion. My first choice was to follow a bachelor programme in Oceanography in my home country, where I got a scholarship in my third year for an exchange. By then HZ was my choice for a foreign university because of the focus on a water related approach. When I graduated from my first education I was missing something, I had a great theoretical and background education although I found it difficult to apply it in order to make the difference. That was when I knew that HZ was the place for me, where I could apply my previous knowledge in the water related subjects and learn the practical approach of bringing construction projects to life.

Now it's your turn! Why would/did you choose to follow  Civil Engineering at HZ? Even more, what would you like to have in your Civil Engineering programme? Leave your thoughts in the comments and let me also be inspired by you.
